DAY 123

I don’t like spiders. At all.

A little while ago, I was deep in thought about writing and life and lo and behold I look at the bottom of the door and see a ginormous black widow. All of a sudden my worries and frustration’s disappeared but were replaced with fear. I just knew more would come out and surround me, climb up my legs, and bite me.

I know, an unhealthy, unrealistic fear.

And then it hit me. I could use this moment to my advantage. Back inside I wrote down my feelings while fresh, and will use them to enhance my current WIP.

Take control. But stay away from the spiders! Just in case…

p.s. Having said all that, I’m still so freaked out by the spider that I can’t even look for a picture to set as main image. 😩 Oh well, baby steps…

  1. Juliet, it is interesting I am reading this entry this morning because today is my last day working for a pest control company. I am well versed in peoples’ fears of certain insects so I enjoyed reading your blog piece. I heard on NPR awhile ago about behavioral therapy where they slowly train people lose their fear with insects, etc. by introducing one at a great distance from a person and gradually moving closer. One of the most beautiful things in nature is watching a time lapse of a spider building a concentric web. I love to watch tarantulas but I am not eager to touch one! You made a great point about delving into fear or any feeling when you are in it. Much like capturing lightening in a bottle!

    1. Here’s to the new chapter in your life!! May you have lots of time to write!!

I have seen such a video, of a spider weaving a web, and it is beautiful and magical. If only I could speak to them and tell them to stay out o the house. I’ve tried…it doesn’t work, lol.

I think as writers, we all have a FEAR of not being good enough, or convincing ourselves that no one in the world would want to read what we write, and of course we all know that’s bologna. I am diving into and capturing the lightening!! Thanks for your constant support of my blog. 😁
