“The best advice I can give on this is, once it’s done, to put it away until you can read it with new eyes. When you’re ready, pick it up and read it, as if you’ve never read it before. If there are things you aren’t satisfied with as a reader, go in and fix them as a writer: that’s revision.”

NaNoWriMo 2014

crest-bda7b7a6e1b57bb9fb8ce9772b8faafb

NaNoWriMo is almost upon us.

For those of you who don’t yet know what NaNoWriMo is, it is National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write 50,000 words during the month of November. Good, bad, or in-between, it doesn’t matter. It gives you the opportunity to get out of your own way long enough to get a rough draft done. Edits come later. Always. You’ll connect with like-minded people and be inspired to write, write, write.

Are you doing NaNoWriMo this year? I am. If you’re curious, check out the NaNoWriMo website for more information.

If you’d like to buddy up, look for me: ‘kinetic juliet’.

Here’s to at least 50,000 words at the end of November.

Good luck!
