SINGLE STEP 365 ~ WRITE YOUR LIFE ~ DAY 107

DAY 107

DECISONS, DECISIONS, DECISONS.

“The more you love your decisions, the less you need others to love them.” ~ Unknown

Life is all about decisions. The same is true when we write. WE create  our worlds from characters to the plot. The idea blossoms into a draft and then into a finished product, the entire journey filled with thousands of decisions. Don’t be afraid to make them. Have fun with them. The decisions we make are the creative juice that make our writing rich and luscious.

“This is how you do it: you sit down at the keyboard and you put one word after another until it’s done. It’s that easy, and that hard.” ~ Neil Gaiman

MANICURE & PEDICURE

A wonderful way to unwind the mind and the body, and even better when I get to go with my daughter. I’m ready to write.

Feeling happy,

PAIRINGS

“Out of clutter, find simplicity.”
Albert Einstein

Over the weekend, my husband and I went to a Spirits & Cheese pairing in downtown Los Angeles. Food pairings and writing are very similar. When words and ideas are paired correctly the writing is harmonious.

“I tried to discover, in the rumor of forests and waves, words that other men could not hear, and I pricked up my ears to listen to the revelation of their harmony.”
Gustave Flaubert, November

DAY 89

DEATH

“Life is for the living.
Death is for the dead.
Let life be like music.
And death a note unsaid.”
― Langston Hughes, The Collected Poems

Death is the end.

It will come for us some day. This theme is ever present in my writing. In emotions, fears, denials, the unforgivens. Each moment, each day is a death of sorts. Once it’s gone it’s gone.

“Each night, when I go to sleep, I die. And the next morning, when I wake up, I am reborn.”
― Mahatma Gandhi

This thought alone, especially the older I get, makes me write. It pulls out my voice from the depths, gives it lift, gives it life. Teaches me courage to share through story, through poems, through my relationships. In the end, I hope to be a positive voice, a reminder that all things are possible, even more so when we hold each other up, give each other a hand, show compassion and understanding in the midst of confusion. Don’t hold grudges, but instead use those emotions in the written word. Work it out on the page. Do it NOW. Most of all, live your life.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!”
― Hunter S. Thompson, The Proud Highway: Saga of a Desperate Southern Gentleman, 1955-1967

It is truly an honor you’re reading this today. I appreciate all of you.

To all those I miss, I thank you and send love.
